La vallée du Louron:

The house is located deep in the heart of la vallée du Louron (the Louron Valley) in the beautiful Hautes-Pyrénées, perhaps France's best kept secret...

View Across the Genos-Loudenvielle Lake

(Photo taken less than a 5 minute walk from the house)

Using the house as your base, you are within a few minutes walk of the Genos-Loudenvielle Lake and all the activities that it provides, a range of sumptuous restaurants, local shops and a Tourist Information centre, various sports activities, a swimming pool, the Balnéa Spa (for relaxation, beauty and aromatherapy treatments) and even a Trout Farm.

Taken Early November 2004

Take to the car, and within a few minutes drive you are a further 1000 metres up the mountain and in some of the best ski fields the Pyrenees can offer.

The Location

The map above shows the location of the house, indicated by the pink heart-shape. As can be seen, the two nearest ski resorts are right on the doorstep and can be reached by just a short drive.

Val Louron, is the perfect ski resort for families during the ski season (late November to early April, with February offering the most reliable snow) and opens up as 'Adventure Parc' in the summer.

Peyragudes offers the experienced skier a more varied selection of runs.

Regardless of the time of year and if a longer drive is wanted, you can easily make a pilgrimage to Lourdes, the city of our Lady. Or take a day out and visit the 'Ville Rose' (Pink City) of Toulouse, either destination being easily reached in well under two hours drive.
